Sturm Graz lost their last chance to advance to the Europa League playoffs on Thursday. The team from Styria lost 0-3 to Feyenoord in Rotterdam in the debut of their new coach Fabio Ingolitsch, with goals from Tsuyoshi Watanabe, Anis Hadj Moussa, and Goncalo Borges. With one round left to play in the league phase, it is clear that Sturm Graz will not reach the top 24. Before the match, Sturm Graz had four points from six games. Midfielder Luca Weinhandl made his debut for the Sturm Graz pros and became the youngest Austrian to ever play in the Europa League at 17 years and 11 days old. In the 15th minute, Seedy Jatta appeared in front of the goal after a great pass from Otar Kiteishvili, but lifted the ball over Feyenoord goalkeeper Timon Wellenreuther and beside the goal. The Rotterdammers, who were without the long-term injured Gernot Trauner, had everything under control, but only became dangerous again shortly before the break. After the restart, the 40,000 fans saw a similar picture - many battles, but few impressive plays and goalmouth scenes. The game was decided in the 68th minute. Initially, Kiteishvili fired a sharp volley towards the Feyenoord goal, but Wellenreuther was on the spot. In the counterattack, the ball landed in the penalty area with Hadj Moussa, and the winger was successful with a shot into the short corner. Fabio Ingolitsch said: „We defended well for 90 minutes, but the problem was the standards. We also had problems winning the direct duels.“ Jon Gorenc Stankovic added: „We were good in the first half, but we always concede goals from standard situations in the Europa League. At this level, that's the difference, we need to improve that.“
