Sturm Graz is facing the threat of losing one of its key defensive players. The French Ligue 1 club Racing Strasbourg has shown concrete interest in Jeyland Mitchell and has already made an offer of five million euros for the 21-year-old center-back from Costa Rica. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports on his „X“-site of an offer of five million euros. With Mitchell himself, Strasbourg has already agreed on the personal contract conditions, but the negotiations with Sturm are still ongoing. Also, the French „L’Équipe“ confirms the concrete interest and reports that the Costa Rican national player is generally open to a transfer to the Alsace region. Sturm Graz is in a difficult situation, as the defender has just been fixed to the club. The 21-year-old center-back came to Graz on loan from Feyenoord Rotterdam in September 2025, where the Steirers secured a buyout option. After a short acclimatization period, he established himself as an important part of the defensive line. Sport Director Michael Parensen highlighted Mitchell's special strengths profile and his extremely strong duel values at the time of the fixed transfer. Although Mitchell would not be opposed to a transfer to Ligue 1, Sturm has no „stress“ at the moment and can still wait calmly to see how the transfer market develops in August. For the player himself, the connections between Strasbourg and the English top club Chelsea are naturally one of the most important arguments for a transfer in the medium term. Nevertheless: Even with a stay in Graz, Mitchell would be well advised. Before he joined Sturm, he played only nine times for Feyenoord and 50 games for several Costa Rican clubs. The 25-time national player of his country is still relatively early in his career, despite his maturity…
