Sturm Graz have rejected a multi-million euro bid for young Polish midfielder Filip Rozga. The Austrian Bundesliga club turned down a seven million euro transfer offer from Italian sides Venezia and Torino for the 20-year-old.
Player agent Daniel Weber of the INNfootball agency commented on the failed deal. "To be honest, this is not an offer that interests us," Weber said. "We didn't fight for it because we didn't like the position Venezia saw Filip in." The Italian offer was structured as a loan with an obligatory purchase clause. Italy's transfer window closed on Wednesday, ending any immediate move.
Filip Rozga is a 20-year-old Polish international with four senior caps to his name. Sturm Graz signed the midfielder in 2025 for a transfer fee of two million euros from Polish club Cracovia. His contract in Graz runs until summer 2029. The player's current market value is estimated at 2.8 million euros, making the rejected offer significantly higher than his valuation.
Rozga is part of the squad of the current Austrian vice-champions, who sit fourth in the 2026/27 Bundesliga table. After five matchdays, Sturm Graz have collected eight points from two wins, two draws and one defeat. Christian Ilzer's team has scored six goals while conceding five.
Sporting director Andreas Schicker explained the rejection stemmed from tactical considerations. The position Italian clubs envisioned for Rozga didn't fit optimally into Sturm Graz's system. The club sees the young Pole in a different role than Venezia and Torino had planned for him. This differing assessment ultimately led to the breakdown of negotiations.
The decision comes as Sturm Graz trail league leaders Lask Linz by seven points. Their recent form sequence of loss, draw, win, draw, draw (LDWWD) shows room for improvement.
For Filip Rozga, the rejected offer means he remains with Sturm Graz for now and can continue integrating into the team. The club demonstrated both negotiating strength and a commitment to retaining talented players. Rozga now has the opportunity to further increase his market value in the Bundesliga.
Sturm Graz's next match is on September 13, 2026. The vice-champions will host current table-toppers Lask Linz at the Merkur Arena. This direct clash offers a chance to reduce the gap to the leaders. Filip Rozga's contract with Sturm Graz runs for three more years until 2029.
