A technical fault in a transmission van caused a broadcast blackout during the live coverage of a Sturm Graz match this weekend. The issue did not originate at the Stadion Graz-Liebenau, as the venue operator confirmed. The interruption occurred on Saturday and lasted for several minutes.
The Cheers Returned
Technicians resolved the problem, allowing viewers to see the action again shortly after. "The celebration of the Sturm players was retransmitted," stated an explanation. The team itself completed the match as normal, unaffected by the issues off the pitch.
The incident happened during a period where Sturm Graz sits fourth in the Bundesliga with 11 points from six games. Their recent form reads three wins, one draw, and one loss from the last five matches. The next fixture sees the team travel to face direct rivals Red Bull Salzburg, who are currently third, on September 20.
The squad will make the trip to Salzburg without the injured Emran Soglo and Seedy Jatta. With an eye on European competition, reliable technical infrastructure for broadcasts is clearly important. The transmission van operator has announced an internal review of the incident.
