Sturm Graz's important 2-1 home win over LASK on Sunday evening was not fully visible to TV viewers. From the 86th minute onwards, the picture on broadcaster Sky Sport Austria failed, meaning the late winning goal was not broadcast live.

The pay-TV channel Sky confirmed a power outage as the cause of the technical fault. The screen remained black until the final whistle, interrupted only by brief previews of upcoming programmes. "We regret the incident and apologise to all viewers," a spokesperson for the broadcaster said.

Decisive phase not on TV

For fans in front of their screens, this meant missing the thrilling finale of the top-of-the-table clash. Sturm Graz had built a lead through goals from Gizo Mamageishvili (34') and Oumar Diakité (59') before LASK equalised before halftime. The decisive strike then came in stoppage time. The win under coach Christian Ilzer solidified fourth place in the table with 11 points from six games. The full standings show the tight race at the top.

The victory against the then-leaders LASK was the second consecutive home win and the third season win overall. The current form of three wins from the last five games (WWLDW) gives the team momentum for the next big duel. This weekend brings an away match at direct rivals Red Bull Salzburg. Before that, the team will have to do without the injured Emran Soglo and Seedy Jatta, as the current injuries list shows.

With the important three points, Sturm Graz stays tight in the title race, just four points behind the new leaders LASK. The next test comes on Saturday in Salzburg.
